Abstract

Purpose –This research aims to analyze financial literation and financial behaviour in Indone-sia, specifically to find the correlation between financial literation level and financial attitude towards individual behaviour. This research also analyses and compares demographical char-acteristics' impact on financial literation. Design/methodology/approach – This research develops the financial behaviour theory in explaining and predicting the impact of financial literation and financial attitude on individual behaviour. According to OECD & Lusardi (2019), financial literation consists of three dimen-sions: financial knowledge, financial attitudes, and financial behaviour. This topic included in the finance subject area, which stresses the importance of financial education for an individu-al's financial literation uses a survey to collect respondents' responses into financial literacy, financial attitude, and behaviour questionnaire. Findings – The result shows that financial literacy and financial attitude are significantly cor-related to financial behaviour. The result shows exciting facts there are higher financial literacy levels in men than women, and there are higher financial attitudein economic study graduates than non-economic graduates. Research limitations/implications – Since the data collection uses an online survey, the re-searcher could not monitor the respondents when fulfilling the questionnaire to make sure that respondents carefully fulfil the questionnaire. This research could be developed to other spe-cific indicators such as educational level, parenting style, or location. A bigger sample size could enhance the result reliability. Practical implications –This research proves that financial literacy level and financial atti-tude significantly correlate to behaviour. Thus, financial education will be very beneficial for young adults, especially for non-economic study backgrounds, and women. Originality/value – This research tries to develop variable instruments for the questionnaire. Since this research takes place in Indonesia, instruments' items should be adjusted, especially regarding financial products. This research also focused on analyzing millennials and gen-Z's financial literation and financial behaviour since both are the most significant proportion in Indonesia.
